INTERVIEW: Hunter Jordan Discusses His New Country Summer Anthems and Announces Opening for Platinum-Selling Artist Tyler Farr at Buffalo River Jam

Nashville-based country artist & songwriter Hunter Jordan is a name you should know.

Hunter Jordan is an example of an artist who is determined to make his dream a reality and doesn’t shy away from investing the time in developing his craft required to make it happen. Earlier this year, he hit the ground running with his solo project with the very successful release of “Dark,” which he then followed up with “Something To Pray About,” just in time for Mother’s Day. On June 28th, the rapidly rising artist released his “surprise 3-pack” of summer singles consisting of “REDNECK WHITE & BLUE,” “THROWIN’ SHADE” and “DOWN FOR THE GET DOWN” –with the 3rd track marking his 5th release this year. Speaking more about the tracks and the songwriting process behind them, he shares,

“‘THROWIN’ SHADE’ and ‘DOWN FOR THE GET DOWN’ are both songs I liked a lot from a previous project. So I was interested in re-introducing those via my solo project.” He continues, “I wrote ‘REDNECK WHITE & BLUE’ with a new group of guys. Going into the write, we didn’t have a title or hook idea and stumbled upon it. I’m very pleased with what we came up with.” Adding, “It’s also the fastest we’ve written and released a track- it all happened in a couple of months.” (Jordan).

Hunter’s 4th of July-themed country-banger “REDNECK WHITE & BLUE” is also the only non-re-released song out of all three of them. Despite this, it quickly gained traction amongst fans and playlist curators. Within the first two weeks since its release, the song was curated by Pressers Radio “GOOD VIBES COUNTRY🤠” and nicolebooz’ “Best 4th of July Country Songs” Spotify playlists–resulting in more than 48K+ organic digital streams between them and fans on the platform.

With all three tracks being summer-themed releases, Hunter shares what he believes is the best way for fans to enjoy listening to the tracks this summer,

“Bring that good time, party vibe. Whether your idea of fun is grilling out or drinking with your friends or going out on the boat with your friends… Get out there and do something, whatever your version of fun is!” (Jordan).

One of the tracks, “THROWIN’ SHADE,” has become one of Hunter’s most streamed songs across platforms, with more than 354K digital streams on Spotify alone. “THROWIN’ SHADE” has also surpassed his solo project’s debut single, “Dark”– which has been streamed over 190K+ times across platforms. Speaking about the track and what this accomplishment meant for him, he shares,

“I wrote ‘THROWIN’ SHADE’ with Ethan Willis. At the time, I wasn’t fully in Nashville yet. When I got the final mix back, it felt really special.” Adding, “I wanted to re-release it for the fans who have been here and for the new fans who will discover it for the first time.” (Jordan).

Adding to the list of accomplishments, Hunter’s set to open for platinum-selling artist Tyler Farr at Buffalo River Jam on August 31st. Speaking more about the event, how excited he is for it and what fans who attend can expect, he shares,

“I’m super excited for it! Earlier in my career, I opened for a lot of touring artists. So it’s going to be somewhat of a homecoming for me– to be opening for touring artists again.” He continues, “The event is close to Nashville- so my friends and fans can come out. I’m looking forward to getting back on stage and sharing my originals with a larger crowd. It’s also the first time in a while I’ll be playing a full-band show!” Adding, “When opportunities like this come up, they are confirmation that you’re on the right path and give you the motivation to keep going.” (Jordan).

Hunter also recently headed back to Upstate New York to play a summer run of shows alongside fellow artist, Hunter Chastain. Speaking more about those recent shows and what the response to his new tracks from his NY fans has been like so far, he shares,

“That run went great! Upstate New York is like a second home for us- it’s nice in a world of unknown, to know that there will be supporters & fans there and that the shows will go well.” He continues, “I’m hopeful we’ll get one more run of shows Upstate this year.” (Jordan).

Upstate New York fans are encouraged to keep their eyes peeled for upcoming show announcements.

Already back in the studio and hard at work to bring fans new music, Hunter began teasing some of his unreleased tracks on his socials. Speaking more about that and giving fans a hint as to what’s to come, he shares,

“I wanted to ask the fans which song I should release next- so I have been teasing some unreleased songs and seeing which one the fans pick.” (Jordan).
