“You can’t have it all, without happiness,” Bruch reminds listeners in her brand-new single, “Riches to Rags.”
Contemporary pop country artist Amberlea Bruch has steadily been making a name for herself in the heart of Nashville, TN, since she moved there in 2023, after trading in her established life and corporate career in Toronto, ON, to chase full-time music dreams. This past year, she made her two full-band performance CMA Fest debut and had two newly released singles in rotation on Sirius XM’s Top of the Country.
In celebration of this journey, she released her brand-new single, “Riches to Rags.” She shares,
“After years of listening to whoever anyone else wanted me to be I decided the only answer left was to follow my heart to who I felt I needed to be. That journey has been nothing short of an adventure, however, I’d do it all again in a heartbeat to find the version of myself I am looking back at in the mirror today. (…) May this song meet listeners in their own seasons of building or appreciating all they have built to have the life of their dreams, whatever that might be for them.” (Bruch).
Written by Canadian artists Greg Williams, Patrick James Clark and Bruch herself, Riches to Rags gives fans permission to embrace starting over. Serving up a powerful reminder that starting from scratch and being happy is better than “having it all” and leading an unfulfilling life, she sings,
“If you sell your soul, what are you left with in the end?
Might be 10 years late to my 10-year plan,
Went from riches to rags, but I’d do it again” (0:37 – 0:52, Bruch)
Sonically, the track blends contemporary pop and country sounds, while leaving the centre stage to Bruch’s striking vocals. The track was also produced by Bruch’s long-term collaborator & producer, Jordan Honsinger.
THE VERDICT
Overall, “Riches to Rags” is a vulnerable, self-reflective track that would be the perfect song to listen to on a cozy night in with a glass of red wine. Contemporary country fans are encouraged to give the song a listen on their preferred streaming platform.
