Introducing Gravel Road Music Group: A Women-led Company Paving the Way for Rising Country Talent

With their artist-first mission, Gravel Road Music Group is paving the way for the next generation of rising country talent.

Founded by music industry veteran Crystal Sykes, Nashville-based Gravel Road Music Group is a full-service boutique label & company that offers artist & tour management, publicity, booking, social media management & content creation, label support, distribution, merchandise, music production, publishing, branding, and show production. With a primary focus on managing & developing country artists, Gravel Road Music Group is also an active member of the Country Music Association (CMA) and the Texas Country Music Association (TCMA).

This year, Gravel Road Music Group is celebrating its fifth year of operation. Looking back on how it all began, Crystal shares in an interview,

“I started GRMG before I even realized I did it. I had an amazingly talented friend who kept getting doors slammed in her face, told they didn’t need more women on the radio, and it lit a fire in me. Here we are now, a full-service artist management and booking agency with 34+ talented artists.” (Sykes).

Gravel Road Music Group is also a women-led company that empowers and uplifts fellow women in the music industry as they develop their careers—both on the business & artist side. Speaking about what inspired her to make it an all-women-led company, Crystal shares,

“It really happened by accident. We had connected with so many brilliant women in the industry, started troubleshooting off each other, and now we’re all out here with the same visions and goals, helping each other succeed.” (Sykes).

Crystal is a huge advocate for collaboration, independent artists and artists maintaining their creative agency & integrity. Elaborating further on the topic, she shares,

“I think collaborating, in any aspect of this business, can be beautiful.” She continues, “I love seeing artists put out the music they love, living loud in their sound, and doing so freely without the negativity that often comes from bigger labels. Artists being free to just be artists is what I think is needed. The industry feels less about authenticity and more about numbers. (Sykes).

A prominent member of the Nashville community, Crystal often partners with local charitable organizations & non-profits to organize showcases in support of a good cause—  the very shows that, according to her, she’s most proud of. Sharing,

“We have been blessed to be a part of so many industry events and shows, but there’s something amazingly beautiful about putting together a charity showcase for an amazing cause and seeing so many people come together and have an amazing time for charity. Those shows are our favorites!” (Sykes).

Recently, Crystal partnered with a number of generous sponsors to put together a Veterans’ Day showcase at John Daly’s Nashville in support of the local non-profit organization, CreatiVets— whose “Mission is to empower wounded veterans to heal through the arts and music.” (CreatiVets). The event was a great success, with both funds and awareness raised for the non-profit.

2026 is already demonstrating the promise of being a big year for Gravel Road Music Group and its roster of artists. Crystal excitedly shares,

“We’re going into 2026 hard with almost 80 shows booked. We’re excited to spend 3 days at Country Radio Seminar with our artists, and CMA Fest will also be a big time!” (Sykes).
