Q & A: Jasmine Frances Discusses Her Brand-New Single, “In Tennessee”

4X CMAB nominee & Alberta-based emerging artist Jasmine Frances is wrapping up 2024 with the release of her brand-new single, “In Tennessee”. The track also marks her first release since signing with her label, Hayseed Co.

Recently, I spoke with Jasmine about her latest single, working with her label and her goals for the new year.

Kyla Pearson: On Dec 27th, you released your latest single, “In Tennessee”. Can you tell us a bit more about the song, as well as the songwriting & recording process?

Jasmine Frances: “In Tennessee” is about the feeling of longing for someone you love and waiting for them to come back to you, it’s that feeling of missing home.

Kyla Pearson: According to you, what is the ideal setting to listen to the song in order to fully experience it? What do you hope fans take away from the song?

Jasmine Frances: I would think when you’re missing someone or something. Or a long road trip when you’re in your feels.

Kyla Pearson: “In Tennessee” is also your first release since signing with Hayseed Co. What has working with Hayseed Co. been like so far, and what do you hope to get out of your new partnership? How do you feel working with a label will help you grow as an artist and songwriter?

Jasmine Frances: Working with Hayseed Co. has been a pleasure, they work around me and my schedule, and we both like to get things done. They let me have creative control and push me to do better. I plan to keep releasing music with them and pushing further into the industry with their knowledge and guidance behind me.

Kyla Pearson: You recently were a part of Hayseed Co.’s “Harvest Sessions” during CCMA Week. Can you tell us a bit more about that experience?

Jasmine Frances: That was an experience I will never forget. We performed three songs and my last one was an unreleased song, and I’m so glad we did it. You could’ve heard a pin drop during the last song, which was followed by loud applause.

Kyla Pearson: With 2024 drawing to a close, what are you most proud of achieving this year? What are some of your goals for the new year?

Jasmine Frances: From signing to a label to attending the CCMAs, this year had a lot of firsts for me, but I am mostly proud of my new release. Next year, I plan to keep releasing music alongside Hayseed Co. and reaching new goals, even if there are small goals.

Kyla Pearson: Lastly, do you have any upcoming shows in the new year that fans can catch and hear you play “In Tennessee” live?

Jasmine Frances: I have one in February, but details are not yet available. I will pop up here and there over the next year. There is a tour happening with my label, you can find details about that on their Instagram page as the details come out.
