REVIEW: Meghan Patrick Sings of Lessons Learned in New Single, “Golden Child”

Meghan Patrick continues to demonstrate her ability to be vulnerable and craft soulful songs with “Golden Child”.

For those unfamiliar with the Nashville-based singer/songwriter and “back-to-back CCMA Female Artist of the Year” (PR team), she’s the artist behind easy favourites such as “Other Side of 25”, “God and a Good Man” and “Bad Guy”. She’s also shared the stage with fellow country stars such as Dwight Yoakam, Kip Moore and Old Dominion.

On September 6th, Patrick released her latest single, “Golden Child”Speaking about the track in a press release, she shares,

“What if it was like writing a letter to my younger self, sharing lessons learned?” Patrick proposes, “So we included bits of wisdom, like realizing that things we once wanted might lose their appeal once we get closer or that easy money often comes with a high cost.” (Patrick, PR team).

Penned by Aaron Eshuis, Joey Hyde and Patrick herself, “Golden Child” is well-written, with a strong chorus in which she shares some life lessons learned that many can benefit from. There’s also a clever play on the song’s title within the chorus where Patrick sings, “‘Cause everything that glitters ain’t golden, child” (1:09 – 1:14). Here, she she serves up a powerful reminder instead of mentioning a ‘golden child’, like the song’s title at first glance suggests.

The song also captures what it means to be young well. When you’re young, you think you have it all figured out. Then, the years go by, and you look back and realize that wasn’t the case. An experience many fans will be able to relate to.

As for the song’s production, Patrick’s co-writers, Eshuis & Hyde, also played a hand in producing the track. Sonically, it’s beautiful– blending contemporary country with a pop flair. Additionally, the track features an alluring fiddle instrumental opener that draws the listener in from the very first note and paves the way for Patrick’s mesmerizing, lustrous vocals.

THE VERDICT

Overall, “Golden Child” is yet another solid release from the singer/songwriter. The song can also easily fit on diverse playlists. It’s very easy to love this song.

The single also comes in advance of her upcoming record by the same name, which is set for an October 11th release. Fans are encouraged to pre-save the record on their preferred streaming platform HERE.

INTERVIEW: Hunter Jordan Discusses His Single, “You Wears Off” and Reflects on the First Year of His Solo Project

Within the first year of his solo project, contemporary country artist Hunter Jordan has already proven to be a name to watch.

Nashville-based contemporary country artist Hunter Jordan has been on a steady rise since he debuted his solo project in February of last year. While starting over from scratch can be a gamble, his debut solo release, “Dark,” proved it can pay off. Within the first weekend, the track was featured on UPstar Music’s “New Music Friday” playlist and gained over 40K+ digital streams on Spotify (with over 343.6K+ digital streams on Spotify at the time of writing). His upward trajectory only continued after that. By the end of year, he had opened for Tyler Farr at Buffalo River Jam, performed for the third time at sought-after venue Luke Combs’ Category 10 (this time as part of BusCall), played numerous local shows and a couple of Upstate New York runs, released 7 singles, grown his highly-engaged online fanbase, secured Spotify listeners in 130+ countries (74.5K+ monthly listeners at the time of publication), and added a couple hundred thousand streams to the 4M+ collective streams across platforms in his career discography (with 1.7M+ collective streams across platforms in his solo discography a year in a half in)— and that’s just scratching the surface.

Last December, he released the “Biggest song of his year,” “You Wears Off”— which he co-wrote with Drew Green (“Best Ex I Ever Had”) and Ethan Willis. Within the vulnerable tune, he sings of a heartbreak he can’t move past by illustrating the small reminders that make the memory of her so hard to erase, like the fragrance of Chanel No. 5.
