Q & A: Country/Christian Artist Jeff Catto on His Latest Single, “Run to You”

Hailing from Calgary, Alberta is 2x GMA winner of “Country Artist of the Year” and Country/Christian artist, Jeff Catto. In December, he released his latest single, “Run To You”– A song dedicated to his children.

Recently, I spoke with Catto about his start in the music industry, his latest single and more.

Kyla Pearson: For those who are unfamiliar with you and your music, can you tell a bit more about how you got your start? What inspired you to pursue the Christian/country genre?

Jeff Catto: I got my start in Canadian Idol, way back when I was 16, I am 36 now, so it’s been a while. I started off as a songwriter though and really found a passion for it.  I started playing in bars young and was lucky enough to have Aaron Pritchett cut a song of mine called Summertime.

Kyla Pearson: What message do you want to share with fans through your music? Why is this message important to you?

Jeff Catto: I am a huge believer that our story is never over until we head to heaven. So I try to bring an uplifting message into my music. The reason it is important to me is that I have failed more than a few times in my life. Yet I always seem to be given another opportunity another chance to make good.

Kyla Pearson: Last December, you released your single, “Run to You”. Can you tell us a bit more about the song, as well as the songwriting & recording process?

Jeff Catto: Absolutely. I wrote the song Run To You for my kids. I am a father of 6 beautiful kids who make me a little crazy but have my whole heart. I have been very fortunate to have done some pretty amazing things with music, so I wanted to let them know through a song, that if they wanted me to pack it up and come home, I would. I actually recorded this and had some buddies play on it with Ariel Delgado and Jonathan Turner.

Kyla Pearson: According to you, what is the ideal setting for fans to listen to the song?

Jeff Catto: Windows down, cranked down the road!

Kyla Pearson: Last year, you earned the Canadian Covenant Awards “Country Song of the Year” award. What has this meant to you?

Jeff Catto: I have been in the Christian industry for quite a while.  The music in my soul never really transposed until I decided to make the country Christian. I was 100% shocked that I won this honour. It means a ton, especially since I wrote it with one of my best friends, Jonathan Turner.

Kyla Pearson: Moving forward in 2023, what is one goal you hope to achieve by the end of the year? Can fans expect more music in the near future?

Jeff Catto: The one goal I hope to achieve in 2023 is to be nominated for a category in the CMAB (Country Music Alberta) and when it comes to music, my new album Neon Cathedrals will be released soon!

Kyla Pearson: Lastly, do you have any upcoming shows where fans can hear you play “Run to You” live?

Jeff Catto: I will be playing at Track On 2 with The Rural Routes for the CMAB on April 26th, in Lacombe, AB.
